Leadership Trait Dependability
Leadership skills in the military save lives and fulfill objectives. Trait leadership
regulates the personality of the person in charge to execute decisions that serve the interests of
the team and the mission. Good communication skills and decisiveness as trait dependability
leadership features integrate the teams and create accountability.
Leadership trait dependability in the marine corps requires a leader to communicate well
and be decisive. The marine corps sector has trained personnel to take orders and execute them
without question (Uslu, 2019). Therefore, it requires a leader to possess practical communicative
skills. Someone whose decisions are implemented as planned or during a contingency scenario.
Moreover, the essential part of being dependent is the intrinsic motivation to deliver quality
performance that sets the record on personal reputation (Uslu, 2019). In the marine corps, being
depended on as a leader means one must be brave enough to save the lives of the team members.
It also means that the leaders must be selfless and work for the team to accomplish objectives
and missions.
Leadership trait dependability is an excellent characteristic among peers because it
provides an overall sense of togetherness. Teams that work together depend on one another
(Sapp, 2019). They make decisions that affect everyone involved. It creates a work culture where
everyone is accountable, and effects are dealt with uniformly. The military lifestyle is one
impacted by post-traumatic stress disorder. However, having peers operating by trait
dependability signifies a culture more humanistic to the mission of healing (Sapp, 2019).
Depending on people in the military relieves the juniors from the burden of exhaustion as one
uses their position to learn from those above them.
